  Final Forum Optimizations.
Posted by: Chemich - 04-11-2012, 03:09 AM - Forum: News & Announcements - Replies (4)

Fixed a few security issues relating to exploits (sql injections, php fakes, possible ddos exploitations...)

Layman's Terms: All known bugs and glitches fixed.

Anyways, I made a "cache exploit" plugin for those of you still having the error, apparently it's just a minor security issue in any CMS/BB coding. Easy fix really, hopefully it helps some of you with the issues. However it's my last and final attempt to fix it, so from here on out there's really nothing I can do.

Layman's Terms: Attempted to fix login problems, if this doesn't do it nothing will.

Forum has been 100% completely optimized, all cache has been rebuilt from the ground up, reinitialized certain php/https protocols (just because for some reason they weren't working.) You all should now communicate with the site better; timeouts though have been increased, delay and lag has been dramatically decreased.

Layman's Terms: Your internet should "like" the site alot more.

Also, I've made it impossible for bots to register. Literally if they get through this someone's manually entering them in (who would have THAT much of a vendetta against a lowly gaming community such as ours?) I've added security questions; hidden captcha's (of which can only be seen by the bots, but must be completed in order for them to register via cron.) I've added an anti-delay proxy negotiation for registering as well, so any new members have to register via their REAL IP. Proxies however can be used if you're already registered, I'm not that much of a control freak.

Layman's Terms: 'Bots' will not be registering, proxies will not work during registration.

I'll be working on the aesthetics of the website, adding a favicon, a logo, and even some improvements through the CSS styling sheet (as you can tell I've already widened it.) Soon this will be a more than respectable home for us all, hopefully you all will stick around to see the "big" changes I have planned (don't worry, no website downtime will be required for me to make these changes.)

Layman's Terms: Website will begin to look nicer, and picture changes soon to come!

P.S.: Layman's terms are for those that do not natively speak American English, or have trouble understanding what I'm saying.

Anyways I hope this clears everything up for now.

Hello folks, Chemich here.

I've added a TON of new features to our forums. Namely the sidebar; portal (homepage,) xbox live thingy, steam thingy, social sites thingy, a thanks thingy, and other crap I just felt like randomly adding onto the website.

The themes are temporary until I make one for us, which may take awhile so just get used to the two themes provided. Unless if someone else wants to make it, that's up to you. lol

Anyways I'll be taking suggestions for plugins, features, pages, etc...

As far as I know the login issue has been fixed, just reset your password and you should not have any problems whatsoever. Make sure you have an active email account, and make sure there's no typo's... I don't feel like resetting everyone's crap.

Wolflo has been made a moderator now! So if you post crap that doesn't need to be posted it'll either be deleted, or you'll be getting a temporary ban (if so he see's fit.)

I'll be adding more features, and third party integrations as we go along. For now I'm going to work on getting us a respectable theme (although this one isn't too shabby.)

Hopefully there will be no issues here on out, thanks everyone for coping with the change!

Alright, hopefully this works.

1) Go into command prompt

ipconfig /all
ipconfig /flushdns

Clear cache from EVERY browser, you can use "Ccleaner," download here.

(You can do it by yourself manually if you don't want to use ccleaner)

Run it, and boom.

Restart, and see if it still works. If not please be patient. Whatever the problem is, *IF* there really is a problem. (Which is why we do this)

For Mac and Linux users, you're on your own. (hopefully you can do the same thing here)

Edit: All else fails? You may need to wait it out, Sento previously had a redirection setup so that -may- be the reason why. Though it's gone, it could still be active. The Administration team apologizes for any inconvenience.

Alright, as I said before we are going to be moving forums once again to welcome our new site person Chemich.  He brought the wonderful news that all this time we could have just converted our forums instead of scrapping them....

So I will update you on the process today as I go through this.

So far I have successfully secured our safety as far as loosing data.  From the time and date of this post anything new posted WILL BE LOST.
I have installed mybb on the site so all I am doing atm is waiting for the site to realize I put a merge program in the mybb forum so I can convert our SMF database into the mybb one.

Once that is done wolflo will assist me as we look at the mybb to make sure we are not missing anything.

P.S.(At least now if we ever have to move forums again we know we can take this shit with us...)

  News Update 4/5/2012

Hey everyone,

I apologies for my somewhat absence I fought allergies all last week so I kept pretty much to myself aside from on steam lol.

Now that I am feeling a little better I will let you all know whats going to happen over this next weekend and next week.

Firstly since I am sort of off next week for spring break(I already had college spring break but unfortunately my work wasn't having spring break at the same time Tongue) At some point in time this weekend we will attempt the conversion from SMF to MyBB so that chemich can begin waving his magic wand.  It will be some time before we actually get things running Chemich will only do this on his free time(which is expected anyway lol).

As I said before we do have donations up now for LoR which includes the TS3, Site, and Minecraft Server atm.  When you do go to donate you should be able to leave a comment if you say don't play Minecraft(or any other server that may get added from other clans) and want to help improve the TS3, or Site you can specify that.  If there is no specified place you comment for donation will be split between whats supported by LoR.

I am still thinking on how to include other clans in the donations, but ideally if a clan shows its dedication to LoR they should be able to apply to receive some of the donations as well for their game servers or other costly things.
But, seeing as donation are not exactly gonna come in great numbers as we are small I wont worry to much about this until another clan joins.

So as always any comments, questions, or suggestions feel free to post em Smile

P.S. THIS IS YOUR WARNING WOLFLO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tongue
